Butterfly
is a 4 by 6 foot painting owned by the Corporation of the City of
Brampton, and can be viewed in their city hall. The scene is from the
Rockwood, Ontario area, and the butterfly is a significant feature of
this work of art. The Monarch butterfly is symbolic of a former
Brampton mayor, Ken Whillans, who drowned while vacationing
with his family.
If the viewer blocks out the butterfly from their
vision, the entire mood of the painting changes, signifying the loss
felt by the citizens of Brampton.
